The best time to purchase a high capacity power bank is right now. The reason that I say that is because there are quite a few charging technologies that have come to the market and are now available to charge our devices at a faster-charging speed. The two main technologies that I’m talking about is Quick Charge and USB-C. They’re highly useful depending on what device you own and whether or not the device is compatible with one of the charging technologies.
We’re reviewing this Tronsmart 20,000mAh power bank (as RAVPOWER 26800MAH ) that has both Quick Charge and USB-C. It’s an all-around powerful and versatile portable charger that has all you need to charge your devices to their fullest as fast as possible.
Power
Power Capacity:
There’s quite a lot of power capacity to be used with this power bank with its 20,000mAh capacity. After its conversion, you’re still going to be able to charge many devices to their full power.
3.7 x 20,000 = 74,000 / 5 = 14,800
Overall, you’re able to use about 15,000mAh of output power capacity from this charger and that is very good even if it’s about 5,000mAh less than the initial. All power banks have their capacities go through a conversion and this one is no different.
It’s with the output capacity with this charger that you’re able to charge your smartphone to its full power about 5 times. You can also charge larger devices such as a tablet to their full power about two times. Since this charger also has USB-C charging ports, you’re able to charge devices such as the Nintendo Switch which has a 4,310mAh battery capacity to its full power about 3 times if you’re using the entirety of the capacity from this Tronsmart power bank.
Charging laptops that use USB-C is also possible with this power bank, such as the MacBook and Chromebook. Those will charge to full power about two times.
Standard Port
There are two USB-A ports, with one being a standard port that has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A. The standard port on this power bank is powerful enough to charge most Non-Compatible Quick Charge devices at their max charging speed. As 2.4 Amps is the standard max speed before Quick Charge or 3 Amps.
Quick Charge Port
The other USB-A port features Quick Charge and can, therefore, charge Quick Charge devices at their max speed. It’s a very useful port which quite a lot of Android smartphones can use and if you own an Android smartphone, then we highly recommend that you check to make sure whether or not you have one that is compatible. As the QC technology is a very useful part of charging to use and can get you to full power quite quickly.
USB-C Port
In addition to the two USB-A ports, this power bank also has a USB-C port that can be used as an output when you use a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. This port is able to output a charging speed of 5V/3.0A that can charge most smaller USB-C compatible devices such as smartphones at or near their max speed.
You can also use the USB-C port to charge iPhones, as long as you use a USB-C to Lightning charging cable. Another thing to know is that the USB-C port can charge larger devices such as laptops that use USB-C and also gaming consoles as we mentioned before such as the Nintendo Switch. Just another way to show you that the USB-C standard of charging is becoming more widespread and useful for a lot of devices.
Input Charging:
You’re able to recharge this power bank through two ways. You can either use the Micro-USB input port that uses Quick Charge to recharge. Or you can use the USB-C port that can also be used as an input too, but the recharge rate through the USB-C port is 5V/3.0A and slower than the Micro-USB input port recharge speed.
As a result, we highly recommend using the Micro-USB input port to recharge this power bank and you should use a Quick Charge USB wall charger to make sure that it recharges as fast as possible. Doing so will result in a 4 hour full recharge time.
Design
Size and Weight:
The size of this power bank is acceptable to put it as simply as possible. It makes sense to be as large as it is, not only because of its power capacity but also because of its many charging options.
It has a length of 5.9 inches, a width of 3 inches and a thickness of 1.1 inches. The weight of this power bank is 13.9 ounces. Overall, not too large and it’s rather a perfect size for a power bank within its power capacity segment. It’s best to place this power bank into a bag or just hold it to take it to a location and then use it once you’ve arrived. As you’re likely going to want to charge numerous devices at once with this charger.
Functional Components:
Most of the functional parts of this power bank are on a single side and by that, we mean everything except for just two parts.
On the single side of this charger is where you’ll find all of the charging ports with the outputs and the inputs. Then, at the top is where you’ll find four white LED power capacity indicators and then on one long side of power bank is where the power button is located.
Build
Structure and Material:
This is a structurally sound power bank as it has a solid build with its use of rubber on the top and bottom of it. There are really only three pieces that make this power bank whole and that would indeed be the top, bottom and also the middle piece too.
It’s not a rugged power bank by any means but this charger is ready for everyday use and won’t give any breaks.
Tech:
With so many charging options and Tronmsart themselves mentioning this power bank being able to have an output of 8.4A, which is very high. This power bank does a great job at keeping things cool even when you’re charging three devices at once. It’s a great part of the build quality as it shows that this charger is ready to be used for what it’s designed for.
Reliability
If you can find a good use of the Quick Charge and USB-C ports on this power bank, then it’s basically a must get. That’s because this charger uses two of the very useful and emerging charging technologies that are sweeping this industry.
However, if you can’t find a use for those charging technologies then it’s best to sit this power bank out as you won’t be making full use of the charger’s capabilities. That said, if you’re able to use what this power bank has to offer to its fullest extent, then it’s one of the best on the market with its high capacity, fast charging and two inputs ports that can give a fast recharge rate.
